The Pros And Cons Of Buying Paid Traffic

Ask any internet marketer and he’ll be quick to tell you that traffic generation can actually be the most difficult phase in online business.  There is no guarantee on how much traffic you can gain for your website, and since traffic is the acknowledged lifeblood of an online enterprise, your business will be placed in quite a precarious position indeed.

Most of the traffic generating methods available today require a gestation period.  They’re like seeds that you need to plant.  It’ll take some time before they can bear some fruits.

But there is one traffic generating scheme that has risen in prominence because of its promise of delivering a sizable number of visitors at a rapid – very rapid – pace.  Yes, it’s about buying traffic.

Buying traffic should not be an automatic choice however.  There are advantages and disadvantages which you must consider beforehand.

Pros Of Buying Traffic

* You’d get visitors instantly.  There’s no need to wait for the search engines to index your website.  There’s no need to feed those search engine spiders with constantly updated content fodder to generate the traffic that you need.  By buying traffic, you’d immediately garner the visitors you need overnight (more or less).

* It’s not as expensive as you’d expect.  With more and more services offering paid traffic these days, the rates have gone down to competitive levels.  You won’t have to sacrifice an arm and a leg to get the traffic that you need from such sources.  Nowadays, you can have as much as 5,000 visitors for $30.

* Some of the visitors you will gain through this method are actually meticulously chosen.  This somewhat ensures quality level traffic, meaning, traffic that is most likely interested with what your website has to offer.  Don’t get me wrong, however.  The chance of generating high quality traffic is quite small.  But at least, it’s better than zero.

Cons Of Buying Traffic

* Much like we have said above, you’d have great difficulty is ensuring high quality traffic.  The visitors that will be sent to your website will come from a variety of places, and there is no guarantee that they are actually from the market that you’re targeting.  Sure, given the numbers you will be playing with, some of these visitors will actually be interested with your website, but often, this percentage is quite minuscule.

* Scams abound when it comes to these services.  Quite a number of enterprises are using dubious methods in generating the traffic that they promise.  Worse, some enterprises actually use fraudulent tactics to create the illusion that a lot of visitors will be delivered, when in truth and in fact, those hits will just come from a handful of users.

* The traffic you will be able to generate through this method is ephemeral.  Traffic sources other than those which are organic only produce temporal effects.  You’d have a rush of visitors visiting your pages one day, and you’d have a dearth of visitors the next.  It’s the way things go, unless of course you’re willing to buy more traffic.

So How Can The Purchase Of Traffic Work To Your Advantage

The solution is quite simple.  Do not look at bought traffic as instant profit for your business.  Sure, from time to time, the visitors generated from this method may actually buy something from you right from the start, but these are the exceptions rather than the general rule.

The best way to deal with bought traffic is to treat such as a lead generating scheme.  A large number of visitors will be thrown your way.  The challenge should be how you can capture these visitors into your mailing list so that you can follow up on them in the future.  This way, you won’t have to rely on buying traffic each and every time.
